June 24, 2010

Today, I woke up, did the laundry which turns out there was more than expected, ate a cookie along with breakfast. After breakfast, I worked on my essay more since I couldn't finish it last night. Before I knew it, I had to eat lunch, get my stuff, and leave. On the way to class, we picked up Carl. We were late to class again. Apparently, I forgot about a lot of class because I am tired of going to class instead of school where a lot of my friends are.

After class we went home, didn't do much either, I ate some yummy, sweet, yummyyyyyyy plums and went to tennis. In tennis, we played more games, no more skills to learn. For one game, Champions of the sea, Janelle and I were one team, there were 3 teams switching around and we won. After tennis, Jonathan, William and I went to the playground near the tennis courts to play. Most of the time we were there, we were on spinny things.

At about 6:30, we went home and I forgot again what I did because I think it was something boring. At 8, we ate dinner, way too much for me, and I got to work like the essay. When I was writing the essay, my brother gave me the netbook because he got rid of the virus in it (YAY PETER).

June 23, 2010 Day 8

Today, I woke up earlier than yesterday, 10AM and I changed into my normal clothes and drank a cup of milk for breakfast. I watched some Eureka and read some FML. I didn't really do anything else because there wasn't much to do.
I ate lunch, dumplings, and got my things ready and went to class. For writing, we went over our outlines. For reading, we read, like normal, and for public speaking we presented our outlines to the class. After class we went to my house, everyone but me played rock band and COD when I got some plums and ate them. They were pretty sweet.
I went to tennis class and we went over some things, and played another type of game I forgot what it's called. We went home and ate dinner, noodles. I read some Chicken Soup for the Sister's Soul and played piano since I was bored. I went online for a while to do homework. And that was my day.

June 22, 2010 day 7

Sorry I didnt post yesterday.
I woke up at 11AM, still as tired as 11PM[simile]. I ate lunch, dumplings, while watching an interesting episode of Eureka. We went to class, which is getting boring by the day, and learned about rhetorical devices, read some stories, and gave another speech, more serious.

After class, a lot of the people from the class went to my house and played rock band. The people going to tennis went to tennis class and learned serving and returning. When class ended, we went to Will's house since no one was home. We ate dinner watched TV like You Wish and Mr. Bean.

At 9:30, Jonathan and I went home and I took a shower and went to sleep.

June 21, 2010 Day 6

Today, I woke up pretty late and ate eggs with milk. I went online to chat with my friends and watched some Glee, my favorite TV show. The episode was about some people doing a singing group and named their group "Accefellas" After watching Glee, I ate some yummy fried rice for lunch and went to class.

In class, we learned about writing research papers and how to write them. After writing, Carl read a passage of Abe Lincoln's important accomplishments. The last thing we did in class was public speaking. For public speaking, we read a strong speech from Winston Churchell, which was during a war. While waiting for my mom to pick me up, I read a few pages of Chicken soup for the Sister's soul. The book is about siblings that do amazing things for each others from love and other stuff.

When I got home, I watched more Glee and went to tennis. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't feeling so well so I had to go home and rest, boring stuff. I ate dinner, watched Sonny with a Chance, and listened to music. That is what I have done today... so far

Sorry i forgot to blog yesterday... I'll just say what i did

I woke up in the morning at 9:15 to get ready for rehearsal, tired. We rehearsed until 11 and went home. I went home, took a shower, and went to Chipotle. I got some tacos and headed for art class. After art, I went home, read, went online, and some guests came over. Michelle's family came over and so did Carl. We ate dinner, played Rockband, and when Carl left, we watched a movie, Dr Who.

HOW TO TAKE NOTES

Why do you take notes? You take notes for remembering things and having to pay attention to a presentation more. If you have a question during a presentation, you should ask when: 1. you do not understand something 2. a slide is complete 3. when the presenter asks if you have any questions. If you don't have time to ask, write a word so you can remember it and put a question mark next to it.

How do you take notes? Rephrase! Rephrase to words so you can understand them yourself. Summarize! use italic words, underlined words, punctuation (!?!?!?!....) and shorthand, abbreviating! for example, for the word abbreviate, I would put abrv. for tomorrow, I would put tmrw.

There are 2 ways of taking notes. One is to listen to the main idea first and then quickly write down quick summaries, necessary details, and examples when the presenter is done with one slide. The other way is to write short sentences after something important is said. This would include definitions, which should be WORD FOR WORD, examples and details. If you feel comfortable using one, just use that one! if you feel comfortable using the other one, use the other one! if you like both, use any one you want.

June 18, 2010 Day 5... wow

Day 5?!? wow that was fast!! Well today, I woke up and my mom and I went to a tailor because I needed measurements for next year's advanced choir. I didn't eat yet so I got very hungry on the way. At home I Read some Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul which was about an old man leaving his dog with someone else, and the dog didn't understand why. About at lunchtime and we hate nooooooodles with eggs and tomatoes. I finished, got ready for class, and left.

Class was like the usual, fun. We read 2 (or was it 3) stories from Chicken Soup for the Soul. The first story didn't really interest me, but the second one did. I think that the second one is a very good story since it was about someone who's dream got crushed but he still achieved it. Then we listened to yesterdays impromptu speech and did another speech on lying which was sorta impromptu.

Then I went to tennis class. That was also fun. We learned some "figure eights", played top dog, and then rally ball. We went home, I got home and put my things away. My mom gave me some work to do which was sorting business cards, not so fun. I ate some dinner, rice with eggs with tomatoes, chicken, and veggies. After, I put some information from business cards onto Google spreadsheets. After that, I started blogging.

On the first day of school at Ray Middle, January 13, as a new student, a brown haired girl came up with me, smiling. "Hey!" she greeted.

"Oh, hi!" I answered. The day hasn't even started and I'm making a new friend? Today's got to be a good day!!

"What's your name? My name is Alexa," said, still grinning.

"I'm Allison, call me Ally," I answered

"What's your first class?" Alexa asked

"Art with Mrs. A. you?" I happily announced

"Same here!!!" Alexa cried, "I'll introduce you to the school if you want."

"Sure!!" I agreed

DING DING!! the school bells rung. Alexa and I ended up best friends.

June 17, 2010 Day 4

Today, I woke up around 9:30 and took a shower. I cooked breakfast, eggs with milk, and ate that and bread with peanut butter. I went online to look if Carl/Peter commented on anything, but they didn't. So after that, I got on Gmail to chat with my friends. My mom came home from the council with Peter and cooked lunch, noodles, we ate, and went to class. Today there was a new kid named Eugene. In class, we wrote dialogs, read chicken soup, presented to the class why we should/shouldn't lie, and did impromptu. After class, Jonathan, Will, Jason, and I stayed to wait for my mom to send us to tennis/home. During tennis, we learned volleys, did some games, and played rally ball, and my team lost. Then we went home, and I ate some watermelon and I am writing this blog right now.

June 16, 2010

Today, I woke up with a bloody nose!! A great way to start a day, huh? After that, I brushed my teeth and washed my face and ate a slice of bread for breakfast. I didn't eat much since it was 11 AM. After eating bread, I helped my mom make lunch by mixing eggs (what do you call it) and cutting onion... yes I started to cry... well my eye stung... ok back to the day. I ate lunch which was rice, eggs with tomato, and the rest I forgot.

The second half of the day starts with getting ready to go to Carl's house for class. I put a notebook, pencil and erasers, and my net-book. When we got there, we were introduced to 2 new students, Serena and I-forgot-his-name, her brother. We did some speech activities (i had to yell at one part) and one activity was to say why we should or shouldn't have extra homework. Each day at "W.R.A.P.S. class" is getting better. Keep it up, Carl and Peter!! Oh BTW we should do that yelling game more often. After class, my siblings and I stayed at Carl's house and watched some KIDS NEXT DOOR. My mom came to send Jonathan, Will, and me to tennis class. We started with some drills, did some practice in the middle, and played rally ball at the end. We played 2 games and tied. After tennis, I was picked up and sent home with Jonathan and Will. We ate dinner and I went to dance class with Cindy. We danced with a live band, and it was pretty fun. I got home, played some rock-band while waiting for my mom to come home since she had the net-book, and now, I am writing this post.

Today was pretty fun and long... in a good way :]

SOMETHING RANDOM I POST

i was gonna post something random... i forgot... oh well... TENNIS WAS FUN ^_^ SO WAS THAT TUTOR CLASS!! im gonna like call it "wraps" for writing, reading, and public speaking :P

2 activities we should do

activity 1, writing activity- we should write about something we like/make a story as a class, with everyone adding sentences

activity 2, public speaking activity- carl OR peter should make up a criminal and it's crime and then we should have 2 teams, on different sides of the room, and they should decide whether or not they should be put in jail (or something similar to that) and give reasons why. the team that the judge (the person not making up the crime) feels that they gave the best reasons wins, winners get stuff

June 15, 2010 day 2

I think that today was a fun day. I liked how we answered a question (are boys or girls better?) and gave our opinion why. We also went over some tips for public speaking and reading comprehension. I liked doing both of those more than writing :P. I think that there should be some motivation (like candy or something we'd like, sorta age appropriate) and we might want to share stuff more. Reading from "Chicken Soup For the Soul" was a good idea and we should do that more often. Like usual, class was fun and entertaining and definitely NOT a waste of time. Peter should do more stuff during class like Carl since it seems like Peter has only been doing stuff on the blog. SORRY PETER!! BUT IT ALSO SEEMS LIKE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!

PENGUIN STORY

One snow-stormy day, a penguin named Bob got cold, so he tied some warm water bags, and tied them around him. Bob waddled around shivering, even when wrapped in warm water bags, looking for warmth. While walking, he met twin penguins named Ant and Artic, who were not so cold. Bob was about to ask how they stay warm when all of a sudden, the warm water turned to burning water and burned Bob. Forgetting how to untie the string wrapping the warm water bags, and Bob yelled “HEY OTHER PENGUINS!! UNTIE ME!!” The twins didn’t hear properly since they didn’t have good ears and thought he said so left Bob alone. Fortunately for Bob, by the end of 3 days, he hadn't eaten for a while, so he got skinnier, and the warm water bags fell of.

June 14, 2010 day 1

This week I will be tutored by Carl and Peter along with 9 other kids. They are teaching writing, reading comprehension, and public speaking. Today, we looked at a picture and wrote an imaginative story about it. The picture showed 2 penguins chatting and looking at another penguin, with warm water bags tied to itself. After 10 minutes of writing, we shared our story and afterwards, Carl and Peter gave some suggestions to improve our way of presenting the story.

I think today was pretty fun. We began the day by introducing ourselves, sharing why we came, and what we feel we need/want to learn most there. We wrote some stories from our imagination and a picture, and some ended up pretty wacky!!:P Now, we have our blogs to write in every night for homework. I don't think its a bad idea either, unlike school.
